Thomastown Paddlers Canoe Club
Welcome to The Paddlers homepage
Thomastown Paddlers Canoe Club are currently the biggest rural based canoeing club in Ireland with over 50 members. The club was formed in 1996 when three friends who paddled together came together. Over the years the club has grown and it now has a very creditable boating house which is home to over 30 club kayaks and canoes. There are many disciplines within the sport of canoeing, but Thomastown Paddlers are mainly a racing club. Our paddlers have enjoyed huge success in racing at home here in Ireland where they were National Champions between the years of 2000 and 2004. The club also had two paddlers, Donnacha and Michael Brennan represent Ireland in Marathon canoeing aswell as Tina Kelly and Clodagh Doyle who both represented Ireland in Wild Water Racing. Several of the clubs paddlers also take part in playboating and sea-kayaking in the south-east region.
